Updating dlink firmware
First, ensure that you're on the same network as your router. Then, visit either "dlinkrouter.local" or "192.168.0.1" in a web browser.Asus also recommends you reset the router after the installation is complete by pressing the reset button on the router's underside for 5 seconds.
If this is the case, you will need to reconfigure the router manually.
So, it's in your best interest to keep your firmware patched — even more so than with other routers.
The good news is that updating D-Link routers is simple, even though it does require a little manual input.
(If you're not sure what that is, it's physically written on your router somewhere — probably the underside.) Click the Downloads section and select Firmware.

Newer Asus routers may have an option in the web interface to update firmware.
